The Havana
Club is located in Havana at the Plaza de la Catedral. The
Havana Club opened its door in 1935. But the origins of the
Havana Club can be found in the year 1878 already, it was José
Arechabala who established the Havana Club and opened the
distillery La Vizcaya in Cardenas. In the 1930s to the 1950s
the Havana cocktails were prepared for well know artists as
Ernest Hemingway, Marlene Dietrich, Jean Paul Sartre or Gary
Cooper. When Cuba was under the rules of Batista, Havana Club
experienced financial problems and went down from competition.
After the revolution, with the support of the Cuban government
the Havana Club was made the main rum brand of Cuba. There has
been a distillery founded near Havana in Santa Cruz del Norte
where the Havana Club rum is produced. Nowadays the Havana Club
is internationally known as the real and true rum brand of Cuba.
So if you are visiting Havana, Cuba just stop at the Havana Club
to taste the true rum of Cuba or the house made cocktails. In
the Havana Club there a bar, a museum which can be visited,
concerts which are organised. The Havana Club is a charming
place to spend a nice time with friends. |
