Royal palm trees along the roads
welcome one entering the small village of Vinales, found in the
central north of the Province of Pinar del Rio, in the western
region of Cuba. At 180 km of Havana, Vinales village is an oasis
of peace with at its entrance a lovely garden full of fruit
trees and scent of all over the world. Quiet and romantic,
Vinales Village has a nice rustic and, at the same time, an
exotic seal. Hometown to approximately 28,000 inhabitants,
descendants of aborigines, African slaves and peasants, Vinales
village is one of the most beautiful and most quiet places to
live in Cuba. Along the road, small one storey wooden houses
with porches stand proudly. The houses, the ‘bohios’, painted in
different colors with their green lawn melt to form one in the
lush vegetation of the valley and the ‘mogotes’ mountains that
surrounds the village. Here and there, sprout above all
habitations royal palm trees. The local people, who are
friendly, depend mainly on agriculture to live. In Vinales
village, the land of abundance, there are plenty of vegetables
and fruits. The tides of times seem to have Vinales village
immutable, the people live in perfect harmony with nature. |
